HIST: Henry was 14 when the Civil War broke out. Brothers Valentine & John were already in - he was anxious to go - father would not give consent. Henry ranaway twice & both times father brought him home again. Finally father agreedto enlistment& took him to Harrisburg - 46th Reg. Company H., PA Volunteer Infantry. In battle of Gettysburg under Gen MEADE, SHERMAN's March to the Sea & served several weeks in Libby's prison - promoted to the rank of Corporal.
