HIST: Henry was 14 when the Civil War broke out. Brothers Valentine & John were already in - he was anxious to go - father would not give consent. Henry ranaway twice & both times father brought him home again. Finally father agreedto enlistment& took him to Harrisburg - 46th Reg. Company H., PA Volunteer Infantry. In battle of Gettysburg under Gen MEADE, SHERMAN's March to the Sea & served several weeks in Libby's prison - promoted to the rank of Corporal. HIST: HIST: HIST: Later settled in Sandusky, OH & Saratoga, NY married Hallie AGARD, 2 children Lottie & Dr. Don A., a physician in Newark, NJ. Henry was a master photographer at all above locations. |
