HIST: HIST: Today my Aunt Nancy died, 8/17/01. HIST: HIST: As a child I was scared of her, she was very intimidating. I was neverquite sure if she even liked children. But as an adult she was a really neatwoman. From 1988 to 2001 I really got to know my Aunt. She was an incrediblecook; shewould invite the family over for dinner and always have 2 or 3 good new recipes, never tried before, we would be her genny-pigs, but the food was always delicious!! And she had a wonderful since of humor, she always had a joke. I rememberonce being at Aunt Sharon & Uncle Leland's, Aunt Nancy, very straight faced, looked at Aunt Sharon and said, ' 'Have you ever had sex with a man in his sixty's' ' The punch line didn't even matter, the expression on Sharon's face was priceless, absolutely priceless - and Nancy just kept such a straight face through the whole ordeal - it was a scream - she should have been a actress. HIST: HIST: But here in the end of her life she had just withered away. Herdaughter Ginny referred to her as a baby bird. Ginny had to feed her Mother water with an eye dropper, she couldn't remember how to suck, something we knowhow to do from dayone. That was last Sunday. HIST: HIST: That Sunday afternoon, I took her daughter Nancy Lea to the airport in Charlotte - she was onher way back home - she and I remembered old times with Nancy & Tim through theyears. or at least the last 30 or so. We laughed, we cried. HIST: HIST: Aunt Nancy is out of pain now, she's at rest. HIST: HIST: A. G. Joyce, nephew HIST: HIST: In Memory - Nancy Simons Miller 1922-2001 HIST: HIST: Nancydied of bone cancer. |
