Alvah V. Walters
Alvah V. WALTERS, 82, 1429 Madison street, died at 12:43 a.m. today in Woodlawn hospital where he was admitted Monday.
Born Dec. 3, 1889, in Rochester, he was the son of Samuel W. and Emma WEBB WALTERS. His marriage was Feb. 27, 1916, in Rochester, to Lenna E. WILSON, who survives. He was a plumber by trade and worked many years with the Jim Darrah plumbing company and the Burton Plumbing and Heating company. In his latter years he was self-employed.
He was a member of the Grace United Methodist church and had taught in its Sunday school for 40 years. He was a member of the Rochester Masonic lodge and the South Bend Scottish Rite.
Surviving with his wife is one son, Norman [WALTERS], of Rochester.
Final rites will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home. The Rev. Laurence SMITH will officiate. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery here. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Masonic lodge will conduct memorial services at 8 p.m. Wednesday. The family has requested that memorials other than flowers be made to the Grace United Methodist chrch memorial fund.
