Rochester Sentinel, 24 March 2005 George R. Cumberland George R. Cumberland, 81, 1403 N. Lakeview Blvd., Warsaw, died at 1:25 p.m. Monday at Manatee Memorial Hospital, Bradenton, Fla. Arrangements are pending at King Memorial Home, Mentone. -- Jan. 13, 1924–March 21, 2004 George Richard Cumberland, 81, of 1403 N. Lakeview Blvd., Warsaw, passed away at 1:25 p.m. Monday at Manatee Memorial Hospital, Bradenton, Fla. Born in Miami County to Walter and Blanche Hanson Cumberland, he was a lifetime area resident and had wintered in Bradenton, Fla., the last 18 years. On Nov. 3, 1946, he married Dorothy E. Walters in Van Wert, Ohio. She survives at home. Mr. Cumberland was a traffic coordinator for R.R. Donnelley & Sons in Warsaw, where he worked for 24 years. He was also a farmer and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Warsaw, the Warsaw Kiwanis where he had been past president and was very active, the Masonic Lodge No. 73 in Warsaw, a 1942 Beaver Dam High School graduate who attended every Alumni Banquet. Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Diane K. Cumberland, Houston, Texas, and Brenda Deardorff, Warsaw; three grandchildren, Kristin and husband Tyson Silveus, Warsaw, Kelly and husband Don Michell, Fort Wayne, and Derrick Deardorff, W. Lafayette; three great-grandchildren, Caden Silveus, Weber and Emma Michell; one sister, Mary and husband Eldon Horn, Warsaw; and one brother, Loren and wife Betty Cumberland, Claypool. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth and Evelyn Cumberland; and six brothers, Paul, Walter, Vernon, Eldon, Frank and Warren Cumberland. His funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at King Memorial Home, Mentone, with the Rev. David Overmyer officiating. Burial is at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Warsaw, the Kosciusko County Hospice or Riley Children’s Hospital. |
