They were married in the First Pres. Church in Ballston. John and Betsy also had daughters; Emily- 5 dec, 1829-d. 1830, Lucinda b. 27 May, 1831, and Phoebe Jane 13 July 1833. He was a pioneer farmer in Catt. Co.. Probably bought farm from the Holland Co. which sold virgin land at $.50 an acre. It is said that his brother Peter may have lived nearby for several years before moving to the Midwest[ many desc. live in Iowa]. John's only son had an only son who died young. He had a 2nd family in Mich.[3 by adopt, and 1 by 2nd wife- he 61 and she 41]-from Glen Woodmancy notes. From Saratoga Co., NY to Ontario Co.-1820, to Catt. Co.- 1828. Pioneer farmer until 1846- moved to Flowerfield twp, St. Joseph Co MI in Three Rivers area. In early 1870s he retutned to Catt. Co near his son Nicholas on 1&1/3 acres. Buried in plot with son |
