Note

Her mother died while she was in college. A cousin went to pick her up. This was a very Long drive. He didn't tell her why he came to bring her home until they were almost there.

1941 - taught English in Lena, Steph. IL
1942 - In Freeport IL with sister Catherine at the movie. After the movie, when they went outside, they heard of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

During WWII, worked for the Red Cross in Washington DC. When it was announced that the war in Europe was over, she and a friend went into the city to celebrate.

While there, her sister Catherine came to visit. They went to all the tourist sites plus the house where they were born and the restaurant that their mother and Grandmother used to own.
