He went by nickname Will. From Green County History, Gotfried Niecks, Sylvester Twp., Juda area, a native of Prussia, was born May 25, 1816 and grew to manhood in his own country. He received a common school education and was reared on a farm. In 1844, he was married to Mrs. Louisa Redeen Moldenhaner, widow of John Moldenhaner, who had by her first marriage, two children: Augusta, deceased, and Frederick W. Moldenhaner engaged in the Drug and Grocery business in 1884 in Juda. They came to the US in 1857 and settled on rented land near Monroe, Green Co., WI. They lived there three years than bought their own farm on section 34, town of Sylvester, containing 230 acres. He and his wife are buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe, WI. The Moldenhaners must have changed their name spelling it Moldenhauer instead of Moldenhaner. |
