In 1638, William Ripley arrived from England with his family and settled in Hingham, Massachusetts. His oldest son, John, married Elizabeth Hobart, daughter of this first pastor of the Church of Hingham. They had seven children. Their second son, Joshua (b. May 9, 1658) married Hannah Bradford, Daughter of the deputy governor of Plymouth Colony and granddaughter of Gov. William Bradford, captain of the Mayflower. Joshua and Hannah had 12 children. Their son David married Lydia Carey on March 21, 1720. They also had 12 children. Their son, Hezekiah, a chaplain in the Continental Army, married Dorothy Brientnall. They had five children. Their son William Brientnall Ripley, a minister, married Lucy Clift in 1767. They had seven children and lived in Gotham, Connecticut. Their son Samuel Willard, a doctor, married Eunice Allen and lived in Cory, Iowa. They had four children. Their son Robert married Jennie Anderson in 1866. They lived in Cory with their eight children. Their youngest son, Vern married Mary Albright of Falls City, Nebraska. They settled in Ohio and had four children. |
