Albert knew who is biological father was but never told his children however he did give them hints. He also saved letters from his mother and letters that were sent to his mother. By reading those, merging what he had told his daughter and grand -daughter, we were able to find his biologica father. Albert lived with 1) his mother's boyfriend Edward Van Sycle, then with his paternal uncle Gideon Perry, then with his maternal uncle, Edward 'Dudley' Ripley. After his mother married, he took her husbands surname but then changed his middle name to that of his biological father. When Albert's mother married, his step-father Philip Boyd would not accept him. Eliza and Philip moved to Iowa. Albert did attend his mother's funeral. After his mother's death, Albert moved his family to Iowa near many of his maternal relatives. 1860 census - with mother and F..Edward VanSycle in Howard, Winnebago, Illinois, his name as Ripley 1870 census - at age 12 living with Edward D and Martha Ripley family, his maternal uncle for a short time in 1870 he is still with his birth father's brother in Winn. Cty. 1880 -Shirland, Winnebago, Illinois with Gideon Perry as ''son'' - Gideon is his paternal uncle. This is shortly before Albert marries. 1900 - Laona, Winnebago, Illinois 1904 - to Iowa for Mothers funeral, not long afterwards, moves to Iowa with eldest daughter and her husband. 1910 census - Chickasaw Twp, Chickasaw, Iowa --- Sir Thomas Beaupre,of Beaupré Hall Castle is the 12th great grandfather of Albert L.
