Murderer of Mr. and Mrs. John Bobb Still Eludes Ill. Officers.
The Tragedy one of the Worst in the History of the State But the Murderer Makes Good His Escape.

Where is Dan Fouke? This is the question which Sherriff Fox and a lot of professional as well as amature detectives would like to have answered. They would also like to lay hands on the fellow, believing that with him in custody the murder of Mr. and Mrs. John Bobb, of Buckeye township, would be at hand. That Fouke committed the crime, the officers are satisfied, but where he is hiding they do not know. It is certain that he was in Rockford the Sunday following the murder, but from there it has been a hard matter to trace him.

It is supposed that he had less than $100 in his possession and it is not thought that he could have gotten out of the country. Sheriff Fox followed every...ity he could get, but none of them led to Fouke's hidding place. It is general supposition that he is hiding in Chicago, but some claim that he is still roaming around the country in the guise of a tramp. It is said by those who know Fouks well that he has more brains than he is given credit for and that he is able to take care of himself. He has certianly proven thus far that he is able to keep out of the reach of the officers of the law.

The people around the Bobb neighborhood are very much disappointed over the failure of the officers to caputer the murderer. They think the county, instead of offering a reward of $1,000 for his apprehension, should have hired a reliable, first-class detective and put him at work on the case. A reward of $1,000 has been little attraction for a first class detective. He generally pays no attention to such caese. But if hired at his regular salary he will work to earn it and also build up his reputation. They claim that if a trained detective had been put to work on the case at the start he would have had Fouke in coustody here this, and thus ...it is not to late....at stake in this matter, and such a cold-blooded and brutal murderer should not be allowed to go unpunished.

The Funeral On Sunday
There were several hundreds people at the funeral of Mr. and Mrs. Bobb, held Sunday afternoon, the interment being at Orangeville. Revs. D.P. Hetzel and H.C. Blosser officiated, and at the Lutheran church at Orangeville further services were held.

The pall bearers were John Shippee, Jerry Walters, Henry Walters, Henry Walters, Philip Moyer, Jacob Stiffler, August Oelka, Dr. Bobb, Isaac Bobb, August Fryer, Samuel Bobb, Israel Bobb.

Mr. John Bobb was born in Snyder county, Pa., Dec. 10, 1808, and was aged 91 years, 8 month and 14 days. He was married to Miss Mina Walter about 1830. Sixteen children were born to them, all of whom are dead except Cyrus Bobb, residing in Oklahoma; Mrs. Elizabeth Wheeland, of Lena; David Bobb, of Lancaster, Wis.; Mrs. John Unangst, of Sterling; Mrs. Samuel Lauver, of Naperville; and Miss Amena Bobb, of David City, Neb. He also leaves four brothers, David Bobb, of Des Moines, Iowa, a former resident of this county, Jacob and Samuel Bobb, Three Rivers, Mich., and Reuben P. Bobb of Pennsylvania, and he also has a sister residing in the latter state. John Bobb came with his family from Pennsylvania and arrived in Stephenson county, Ill., in May 1847. He settled on a farm in Buckeye township, where his wife died in 1858. In 1863 he was married to Miss Mary Riggle. The married life of the couple was very happy and they were greatly devoted to each other.
