OBITUARY-BRUNKOW, FRANK EDWARD (1952)Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 9, for Frank Edward Brunkow. He was the youngest son of William F. and Caroline Brunkow, born July 8, 1876 near Duluth, Kans. In his infancy he was baptised and in his boyhood he became an active member of the Lutheran church. He found a life’s companion in Emilie Kolterman on Dec. 11, 1901, which union was blessed with two children; she died Mar. 28, 1904. God meant it for good. He always does. Eleven years later, on Mar. 2, 1915, he was united in marriage with Marie Itter, who deeply mourns his departure. He is mourned besides his devoted wife, by six children: Mrs. Sylvia Nieman of Topeka and Walter, of Soldier, by his first wife, Emilie; and Mrs. Evelyn Miller of Havensville, Meryl and Orville of Topeka, and Mrs. Alice Schneider of Marion, Texas; by three sisters, Mrs. A. F. Kolterman, Mrs. Pauline Honig and Mrs. Wm. Honig; also by nine grandchildren. Mr. Brunkow was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Duluth. Interment took place at the Duluth Cemetery. His pastor, Rev. J. A. E. Bauer, officiated. Pallbearers were his sons and sons-in-law. - The History of Onaga and..., The Onaga Historical Society, 1982, Onaga, KS Frank E. Brunkow was born and spent most of his life in the family homestead, the farm where Richard Abitz now lives. Frank;s first marriage was to Amelia Kolterman, who died in 1904. For their children, refer to the William and Amelia Kolterman story. Frank's second wife was Marie Itter, daughter of John and Elizabeth Germaroth Itter. She was born in 1885, and died in 1965. They had five children: Evelyn, born in 1915, Meryl, born 1916, Arlyn, born 1919, Orville M., born 1921, and Alice. John and Elizabeth Itter came to the United States from Germany in 1885, and went to Herkimer, KS. They went to Oklahoma and homesteaded land, and came to Duluth about 1908. They opened a restaurant at the present Clarence Teske home, Elizabeth died in 1918, and John died in 1937. |
