The first site was the remnantof property still in the name of Thomas Zerbe, Maggie's father. I sayremnant because in the 1920's, the state came diagonally through the 4lots Thomas owned with a reroute of Illinois Highway 26. The house hadto be razed but the outbuildings were left standing. The family thenmoved into a small house across the road and about 1 city block to thewest where Maggie and Charles' son Frederick eventually lived yet evenafter his parents passed away.' '
