[keaglebunch.FTW] Mrs. Rebecca A. Webb, wife of A. J. Webb, died at half past six o'clock Thursday morning, Jan. 25th. She was taken sicks nearly five years ago with diabetes but a complication of diseases set in which caused her death. Mrs. Webb, nee Keagle, was born in Lycoming county, Pennsylvania, Feb. 22, 1833. At the age of 14 years she came west with her parents and made their abode in a log house near the village now called Dakota. In 1847 they moved and settled on a claim one mile south of Rock City. Jan. 1, 1854, she was united in marriage to A. J. Webb. They were blessed in this union with five children, two daughters and three sons, Lillian A., Kate H., Fred E., living at home; Frank A., of Freeport, and Edward B., of Rock City. Shortly after the marriage she moved with her husband to Vinton, Ia., living there seven years, then moving bact to Rock Run, and living there until 1889, when they moved to Rock City, where they lived at the time of her death. She was converted to Christ fifteen years ago. She never united with any church but; lived a devout and consecrated Christian life, never flatering to stand for the truth and right. She was a kind and loving mother and the family deeply feel their loss. Besides her husband and children, who mourn her loss, are one sister and three brothers, Jane A. Hutchinson and Joseph S. Keagle, of Rock Run; James G. Keagle, of Green County, Wis., and Freeman B. Keagle, of Vinton, Iowa. One brother and one sister proceeded her to the grave, W. H. Keagle, who lost his life in the Civil War, and Margaret, who died when quite young. {Freeport Daily Bulletin Freeport, Illinois January 31, 1900} |
