He was a veteran of the Civil War. He wasnoted as the best shot at the old shooting matches. He had children:Caroline, 1845; Mary Ann, 1850; Emanuel, 1852; Rebecca, 1857; Elizabeth,1859; John, 1861; George, 1863; Reuben and William (twins), 1874.' ' A transcription of his tombstone (151(22)) states that he served with theGAR in the Civil War from 1861-1865. |
