They made their home on a farm northeast of Wheaton until 1950, when they moved to the town of Wheaton.- The History of Onaga and..., The Onaga Historical Society, 1982, Onaga, KSOBITUARY-ABITZ, LENALena Marie Abitz was born December 6, 1879, to Ferdinand and Minnie Hinzman, nee Zieman, in Doelitz Pommern, Germany, and was baptized at Doelitz, Germany. She came to this country and was confirmed September 23, 1894, at Evangelical St. Johns Church in Western, Nebr. On February 23, 1905, she was united in marriage to Wilhelm Frederick Abitz by Pastor H. Limper. They made their home on a farm northeast of Wheaton until 1950, when they moved to the town of Wheaton. After the death of her husband, October 1954, and her health started to fail, she made her home with her children. The last years she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Lydia Schwant.She passed away January 21, 1970, at the Dechairo Hospital, Westmoreland, at the age of 90 years, one month and 15 days. She leaves three sons and eight daughters: Lydia, Mrs. Arnold Schwant, Blaine; Meta, Mrs. Walter Figge, Wheaton; Hilda, Mrs. Henry Kufahl, Onaga; Martha, Mrs. August Schwisow, Fairbury, Neb.; Selma, Mrs. Louis Webner, Manhattan; Herbert, Wheaton; Almon, Wheaton; Frieda, Wichita; Chester, Onaga; Lavina, Mrs. Arnold Vordestrasse, Plymouth, Neb; Olga, Mrs. Lynn Fairbanks, Onaga; 38 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Gross, Milford, Neb.; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Martha Hinzman, Fairbury, Neb.; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, four sisters and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 24, at St. Luke, Wheaton. Burial was at the Duluth Cemetery-The History of Onaga and..., The Onaga Historical Society, 1982, Onaga, KS |
