154(3): ' 'Charles M. Zerbe, son of Dr. Jonathan Zerbe and Martha A. Myer,was born Sept. 2, 1841, at Shaefferstown, Lebanon Co., Pa. He waseducated in the public schools of the town until 1835, then at theShaefferstown Academy until 1859, when he entered the sophomore class ofFranklin and Marshall College, at Lancaster, Pa., from which institutionhe graduated in July, 1862. He then taught one term in the publicschools, and for a term of nine months was tutor of the languages andhigher mathematics in a private high school at Shaefferstown. He readlaw in the office of Samuel Perkins, of Philadelphia, during the years1864 to 1866, and admitted to practice in all the Courts of Common Pleasof Philadelphia, May 19, 1866. In August of the same year he wasadmitted to the Lebanon County bar, and took up his residence atShaefferstown. Mr. Zerbe was elected a justice of the peace forHeidelberg township in 1875, and re-elected in 1880, but resigned in1881. He remains in the practice of his profession.' '
