More About Carol (Carl) Dillon Kaylor: Name: Since Carol was born on Christmas day, his mother wanted tocommemorate that in his name, intending that the male spelling, Carroll,be used. However, the doctor made a mistake on the birth certificate (ordidn't know there was a spelling specific for males) and Edith was toodopey from the delivery to notice and correct it. Later in life, after marrying Carolyn, they often encountered problemswhen being introduced as a couple: ' 'I'd like to introduce Carol and Carolyn Kaylor.' ' When you say that fast, you can begin to get a sense of what washappening. People would surreptitiously approach Carolyn a few minuteslater and say ' 'I caught your name; you are Carolyn. But what was yourhusband's name again?' ' So sometime after they moved from Los Angeles, CA to Pico Rivera, CA in1953, he changed the pronunciation of his name to Carl. This causedother problems, since in Carolyn's family there were already 3 Carls:her father, Carl, Sr., her brother, Carl, Jr., and his son, Carl, III.Still, this was easier to manage than the confusion caused by ' 'Carol andCarolyn.'
