Came to Steph. Cty IL in 1854. His sister Caroline came in 1849 and Isaac Zimmerman (h/o Mary Stonner) also of Centre County also came in 1849, George W and Henry (sons of Isaac w) 1859, Mathias and his son Daniel 1846, Sarah (Zimmerman) Shane w/h ~1837 1880 Stephenson Co. History David Zimmerman, farmer, Sec 27; P.O. Rock Grove; born in Centre Co., Penn., Aug 4, 1819: came to Stephenson Co. Ill, in 1854 and settled on Sec 27, Rock Grove Twp, where he now owns 150 acres of land, valued at $5? an acre. In 1844, he married Miss Elsie E. Ickes, of Perry Co., Penn, who is a daughter of the old revolutionary soldier, ' 'Nicholas Ickes' '; the family consists of eight children -- Catherine E., now Mrs. J. Musser; Emma C., Andrew, Albert N., Laura J., Codella L., Saloma A. and Lewis E. Mr. Zimmerman has held the offices of assessor in 1865, of Supervisor in 1868 on the Republican ticket, and belongs to the Presbyterian church; in the Sabbath school he has been an earnest worker. |
