Daniel was baptized May 2, 1790 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Reading, PA (sponsor Peter Gauer). Another source shows he was baptized at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Berks County, Reading, PA on June 9, 1790. Sponsor was Peter Gauer (Gaumer), probably his grandfather. They attended Jacob's Church and St. Peter's Blue Church, Paxinos, PA. He was a farmer and they lived in Shamokin township (1850) before moving to Newtown, Fountain County, IN (1854) where he lived the rest of his life. Four of 11 children remained in Northumberland County, PA. They were Elizabeth, John, Maria, and Caroline. He was a charter member of Richland Lodge #171, I.O.O.F and was in the War of 1812. He was buried in Newtown Cemetery, Fountain County, IN. ' 'Haas Cousins' ' page 22 shows death as 16 April 1869. Sprow shows birth as 9 January 1790 and baptized 2 May 1790. |
