Twin sister of Mariah Her dresser went to Granddaughter Lola May Coplien then to Catherine (Donker) Coplien Two of Malinda's sons, Elvin and Harry marry 3rd Great Granddaughters of Miami Chief Michikinikwa (Little Turtle). Malinda is the 2nd great granddaughter of Johannes (Jacob) Conrad Walter. Jacob was the only known white man to survive the slaughter known as the Wyoming Massacre in PA. This was carried out by the Delaware/Miami Indians, probably while Michikinikwa's father Acquenacque was Chief. Quite interesting is the fact the both of Malinda's parents families moved into areas of the Miami's once the areas were cleared of the ''hostiles''. A family named Slocum had a daughter, Frances that was kidnapped after the massacre. The Slocum's were our Walters neighbors. They (the Miami) then took her first to Ohio and later Indiana. While our Walters and Reesers were living in the same area, Frances's brother also moved to Indiana from Ohio (our Reesers moved first to Ohio, then Indiana). A man told him he looked just like a white woman living with the Miami. He went to a general store to inquire and as it happens, two of her sons were in that same store. One bore a striking resemblance to the man. He then went to meet this woman and she was in fact his sister, by this time an elderly woman. Frances choose to remain with the Miami even when they were sent to the reservation |
